Are you planning a last minute summer road trip before the kids go back to school? Before you rush to get on the road, make sure that you hit these four maintenance points while you are still within reasonable distance of our repair shop.
Check your fluids.
Are any of your fluids low? Do any of them look dark, dirty, or otherwise discolored? If so, you should contact us right away to get your car in to be checked by one of our experienced automotive technicians. Minor issues like a small gasket leak or loose hose can be caught and repaired inexpensively, but they can become dangerous and expensive problems if you ignore them and hop on the interstate.
Check your tires.
Check all of your tires to make sure they are at appropriate air pressure levels. You should also check your spare for leaks and air pressure and make sure your vehicle contains adequate safety equipment, a jack, stand, and crowbar.
Have your brakes checked by a qualified mechanic.
If you aren’t sure about when your brakes were last serviced, you should have your mechanic check them out before you hit the open road. There could be a problem without noticeable symptoms that the mechanic can pinpoint with diagnostics.
Have your battery and alternator tested.
You don’t want to be stuck on the highway in the middle of nowhere without power to your vehicle. Have your battery and alternator tested to make sure that they are operating at optimum capacity. And if not, replace them preemptively before the trip.
Bring in your car for a complete road trip inspection.
We can give your car its regular oil change and maintenance early so that you are certain you’re in good shape for your vacation. Bring your car in for an inspection and basic maintenance so that you are prepared for a safe and fun time.
